Biswajit Mondal, Voice 9, Dhaka Bureau: Farouk
had to lose everything due to a lack of family. Omar Farooq, 50, was a big
partner in his life, despite the family's trauma day after day. He brought up a
daughter and two sons. He made an effort to support his family with the
proceeds from his modest shop.
He worked as a night watchman since he couldn't
afford the expenses. But he got into an argument with his wife about a
pointless event. The wife, upset, took the kids and left for another location.
He has been living alone ever since. Omar Farooq
received the diagnosis at one time.
Despite having Sandeep of Chittagong as his
permanent residence, he resided with his wife and kids in a leased home in the
village of Isanagar in the Karnaphuli upazila.
Farouk's day ended in this manner. Kamrun Nahar,
a neighbor, used to stand beside Faruk. He got in touch with Farouk's family.
But neither his wife nor his kids were willing to accompany him with the sick
Faruk.
Five days ago, a local UP member admitted Faruk
to Chattogram Medical College Hospital. While receiving treatment there on
Saturday night, he passed away. The family members refused to accept the body
and bury it after learning of his death. Mahmudul Haque Sumon, an Up member,
was in charge of the body's burial. Sumon said, "I have been seeing Omar
Faruk in the area for a long time. I tried to help him through his difficult
times. But no one from his family came along. When Faruk died, his son Mehedi
was informed. He refused to take his father's body because he was busy.
Dulal Mahmud, officer-in-charge (OC) of
Karnaphuli Police Station, said the Gausiya committee asked Karnaphuli to bury
the body as no one from the family agreed to take it. Imtiaz Uddin, coordinator of Gausiya Committee Karnaphuli Humanitarian
Team, said the body was brought from the hospital and buried.
