On the 82nd anniversary of his passing, Rabindranath Tagore, Asia's first literary Nobel laureate, is commemorated throughout the world

Special Correspondent, Voice 9: Rabindra Nath Tagore, Asia's first Nobel laureate and the first non-European to receive the literary Nobel Prize, was honored for his work, "Song Offerings." King George V also knighted him in 1915, but the poet eventually repudiated it in the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh tragedy. In addition to writing the "Jana Gana Mana" national song for India, Tagore also wrote the "Amar Shonar Bangla" hymn for Bangladesh. In addition, it is thought that he provided the inspiration for Sri Lanka's national anthem.

Rabindranath Tagore was born to Debendranath Tagore and Sarada Devi on May 7, 1861, in the Jorasanko mansion in Calcutta. At the age of 14, his mother passed away, and he later traveled with his father around India. After his return, Tagore finished a number of significant compositions by 1877, one of which was a lengthy poem written in Vidyapati's Maithili style.

Although Rabindranath Tagore has been referred to as a poet, dramatist, writer, musician, philosopher, social reformer, and artist, words can't adequately express the full scope of his contributions to the Indian subcontinent. Tagore, the first non-European recipient of the Nobel Prize in Literature, is credited with altering the organizational principles of Bengali literature, music, and other Indian cultural forms.
