Voice 9, International Desk: Lil Tay, an
online Canadian adolescent rap phenomenon who rose to prominence on social
media, died at the age of 14 together with her elder brother Jason Tian, who
died at the age of 21. The reason for the adolescent rapper's death is
presently unknown and has sparked controversy. The Instagram account of Lil
Tay, a controversial teen rapper and social influencer, announced that she had
died Wednesday. But the Internet personality's father declines to confirm the
news.
Before Wednesday’s Instagram post, the
viral star’s Instagram had been dark, with the last post in June of 2018
mourning the death of controversial rapper XXXTentacion.
Lil Tay, born Claire Hope, has over 3.3
million Instagram followers and has rapidly become a popular character among
rap aficionados. Claire's relatives used her Twitter account to announce her
terrible death.
Lil Tay first appeared as a social media
persona in 2017 at the age of nine, but by the time she turned ten in 2018, she
had become embroiled in a major custody dispute.
This was due to reports that her father was
physically and emotionally abusing her and using her sibling. As a result of
the youngster's contentment, her mother lost her job as a real estate agent.
Lil Tay has faded into oblivion since 2018. As a result, their 'deaths' are
still under investigation. "It is with a heavy heart that we share the
devastating news of our beloved Claire's sudden and tragic passing," the
family captioned the photo. We have no words to describe how horrible it is.
This outcome was entirely unexpected and has left us all in shock. Her
brother's passing adds an even more unimaginable depth to our grief." Her
family said
However, the death news has sparked
controversy, with some dismissing it as a "fabricated statement."
According to the Daily Mail, the management of young rapper Harry Tsang, who
questioned the veracity of the tweet, was particularly outraged.
Tsang stated that no cause of death or
prior health issues had been disclosed and that the message was delivered by an
unknown member of the family.
Another factor casting doubt on Tay and her
brother's deaths is the lack of any records of a reported death by police in
Vancouver and Los Angeles, where Lil Tay and Jason had been residing.
