Bangladesh Election: ‘Boats are symbols of development, so vote for boats:’ PM

 Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has emphasized the importance of voting for the boat brand, as it symbolizes development. According to her, choosing the boat brand will lead to the progress and improvement of the country. Sheikh Hasina expressed her commitment to serving the people and requested their support through voting.

These remarks were made during her speech as the chief guest at the election meeting of Awami League candidate Abul Kalam Md. Ahsanul Haque Chowdhury, Duke of Rangpur-2 (Badarganj-Taraganj) constituency on Tuesday (December 26) afternoon. The head of government, while addressing the public, expressed gratitude for their participation in the voting process by boat. She emphasized that their votes on the boat have granted them freedom and improved the quality of life for every individual.

Furthermore, she highlighted the ongoing development of roads in the country. In regards to food security, the Prime Minister emphasized the government's efforts in providing subsidized rates for food, particularly for the underprivileged. She also mentioned the inclusion of various social welfare programs, such as the old-age allowance and widow allowance, aimed at uplifting every segment of society.

Sheikh Hasina proudly stated that the Awami League government has successfully introduced modern technology in the country, as evident by the widespread usage of mobile phones among the population. She mentioned that the government provides complimentary textbooks to students annually. This year as well, books will be distributed to students free of charge on January 1st of the upcoming year. During that moment, Sheikh Hasina pointed towards Abul Kalam Md. Ahsanul Haque Chowdhury, Duke, the candidate for Rangpur-2 constituency, and declared, "This individual is my candidate, Duke Chowdhury. He is of the same age as Jai and is like a son to me. I have entrusted him to you, and I urge you to vote for him under the boat symbol. Kindly convey this message and extend greetings to the people of Badarganj. Provide him with an opportunity to secure the vote and serve the community."

The public gathering witnessed the presence of State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Awami League Organizing Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Awami League Central Committee Leader Aminul Islam, and former student leader Abdul Mateen on the stage. Prior to this, he arrived at Syedpur airport via airplane around 11 p.m. From there, he traveled to Taraganj by road. He greeted the people of Rangpur by shaking hands.
