With the cancellation of the remaining HSC exams, how will the results be determined?

Voice 9, Dhaka Bureau: The ongoing HSC and equivalent exams of the current year have been canceled by the interim government due to unavoidable reasons as per the directive of the Ministry of Education. The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee has issued orders to cancel the remaining exams. Now, the education boards will start working on how to prepare and publish the results.

However, it has been informed by the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and the exam controller of the Dhaka Intermediate and Secondary Education Board, Professor M. Abul Bashar, that the results will be published through subject mapping. Additionally, a special committee will be formed by the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee to determine how the results will be prepared through subject mapping.

On Wednesday, August 21, Professor Abul Bashar stated that one or more committees would be formed to prepare the results of the canceled exams. They will decide how the results can be prepared. He mentioned that during the coronavirus pandemic, they had prepared the public exam results through subject mapping. That committee still exists. This committee will now be dissolved, and a new special committee will be formed to determine the process based on their recommendations.
When asked about when the committee will be formed and work will begin, Professor Abul Bashar stated that they could start working on this matter today. Once the committee is formed, they will understand their responsibilities and start working promptly.

Although subject mapping is mentioned to prepare the results, the Ministry of Education and the boards have not yet finalized this matter. Discussions have been held with the board officials about how the exams taken by the students can be used as a basis for mapping the remaining exams based on the SSC exam. Concerns are also ongoing regarding the latest test results given to students in colleges. However, this is not final yet.

To know more, the Chairman of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, Professor Tapon Kumar Sarkar, mentioned that no final decision has been made yet on how the results will be prepared and published. Currently, the decision to cancel the exams has been made.

Encouraging students to be patient, he stated that all boards will discuss this matter. The Ministry of Education will also provide guidance on this. After that, the process of preparing and publishing the results will be finalized. Students should be patient. We will inform everyone.

The HSC and equivalent exams started on June 30. A total of 1,450,790 students participated. According to the initially published routine, after eight days of exams, the quota reform movement created a situation where all exams scheduled for July 18 were postponed.
