Bangladesh: Journalist killed after being run over by a truck in Kapasia



Voice 9, International Desk: In the Gazipur district's Kapasia upazila, a truck accident involving a sand-filled drum claimed the life of journalist Munjur Hossain Milon. Milon, the late Abdus Sayeed Sheikh's son from Pabur village in Kapasia upazila, was confirmed dead. Milon served as both the president of the Gazipur City Press Club and the daily Bhorer Darpan's reporter in Gazipur.

He was struck by a drum truck carrying sand while he was crossing the road near Kotbajalia Bazar on The Bhakwadi-Kapasia Regional Road at about 10.15 a.m. on Friday, according to the police and witnesses who were on the scene. They said Manzur Hossain Milon, who was on board his motorcycle, was crushed by a sand-laden drum truck adjacent to Kot Bajalia Bazar on the Vakodia-Kapasia regional highway. The truck was seized, but its driver managed to escape.


The deceased body was sent to the morgue at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital in Gazipur, according to Kapasia Police Station OC AHM Lutfar Kabir. Even though the ruthless vehicle was taken into custody, its driver escaped right after the accident. Both the vehicle's driver and its owner would face legal action.
