Ratan Tata Passes Away: Dies at 86 in Mumbai Hospital

Mumbai, Voice 9: Ratan Tata, the illustrious former chairman of Tata Sons, has departed this world at the age of 86. The venerable industrialist was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after experiencing a precipitous drop in blood pressure. His condition necessitated a transfer to the intensive care unit (ICU) due to a swift decline in his health.

Harsh Goenka took to X to confirm the somber news, stating: "The clock has stopped ticking. The Titan passes away. #RatanTata was a beacon of integrity, ethical leadership, and philanthropy, who has imprinted an indelible mark on the world of business and beyond. He will forever soar high in our memories."

On October 7, the nonagenarian had dismissed health concerns as mere 'rumours,' assuring his followers that there was no cause for alarm and that he was undergoing routine check-ups for age-related ailments. "I am currently undergoing medical check-ups due to my age-related medical conditions," he declared in a post on X. "There is no cause for concern. I remain in good spirits," he emphasized, urging the public and media to abstain from "spreading misinformation."

Earlier reports indicated that Ratan Tata was hospitalized following a sudden decline in blood pressure. "Experiencing abrupt drops in blood pressure can be quite alarming, and there are myriad reasons for such occurrences. A prevalent cause is orthostatic hypotension, which transpires when one stands up too quickly, resulting in a transient dip in blood pressure. Dehydration is another contributing factor, as inadequate fluid intake can adversely affect blood volume and the maintenance of stable blood pressure. Furthermore, certain medications prescribed for hypertension or cardiac conditions may have side effects that include sudden drops in blood pressure," explained Dr. Pratyush Mehra from Delhi.
